xxxxxAdeline Herbert was born in Wiltshire, England. Her father Reginald was quite a ways down the ladder on the list of those in line to be Earl of Pembroke, but the Herberts have always been filthy rich nonetheless. Even at a young age, Addy learned that her family had its secrets. Like her mum's drug habit and father's hunt club. Appearances must be maintained, however, and Addy had private tutors for nearly everything from etiquette to schooling.
xxxxxIn a many ways, her mum's drug binges only increased the bond between father and daughter. He taught her how to shoot, first with clay pigeons and then with real birds. On her thirteenth birthday Addy's father took her out with his hunting club, and her life was never the same again. The quarry that evening was a pack of creatures that were not quite like wild dogs. At least no dogs she'd ever seen had scales like these.
xxxxxAddy became a regular part of the hunt club after her official initiation. All during her prep school years she played along, going on the hunts and killing whatever quarry presented itself. In time, Adeline even proved herself to be quite a good shot. But when she finished school, she began to be disenchanted by the club.
xxxxxIt wasn't the club's cruel and hedonistic ways, or even the night that three members got eviscerated which turned her off. Addy became numbed by just the mindlessness of it all. The club hunted for sport, and they killed creatures that they didn't understand. While she would never directly go against her father, Addy knew she needed to walk a different path. Moving to Maine under the pretext of joining another hunting cell, Addy is on her own for the first time in her life.
