MT09 -- Dogwood and Blaine - Catholic District
Description
The red brick sprawl of St. Anthony's Hospital takes up much of one side of Blaine Road, set slightly back from the street and surrounded by large pine trees. None of the buildings are taller than three stories, and the windows gleam darkly against the brick, tinted for privacy. A large parking lot is adjacent to the hospital's main building, with signs pointing to various services such as the emergency room, intensive care unit, trauma center, psychiatric treatment center, and others. Some specialized services are housed in the smaller, outlying buildings on the hospital grounds. There is quite a bit of foot and automobile traffic around the hospital, with the shriek of sirens occasionally rending the air as ambulances and other emergency response vehicles tear down the pavement.
This is a very busy area, with numerous other establishments, including a chapter of Catholic Charities Maine and some smaller community organizations that are part of the local Catholic parish. St. Anthony's Catholic Church is directly to the south on Blaine Road, while Aleswich Reach College can be found due east along Dogwood. Aleswich's entertainment district lies toward the north.
