What comes to mind when you think Gothic Horror?
Horror is not just terror, but revulsion. Aversion. The anticipation of pain and danger. Gothic is characterized by gloom, mystery and the grotesque. The out of the ordinary, the unexpected and the odd or strange. A sense of a thing belonging to an era of time gone by, lost to the annuals of history.
Gothic Horror is as much atmosphere as anything else, filled with certain symbols that we've come to associate with the genre. Fog. Rain. Moonlit nights. Windblown heroines on clifftops. The mansion in the woods where the eccentric family keeps to itself. The castle on the moors. The heiress left to discover the horrors of her True Family. Finding out no one is whom they seem to be and that yes, Virginia, something is in the woodshed.
Playing in the Vampire sphere, we'd like you to keep in mind several themes and help us propagate a sense of Mystery, Isolation and Horror. Dracula. Varney the Vampire. Dark Shadows. Any number of Hammer Horror Films.
This is the sort of story that we'd like to tell here.
Dunlin's Reach has so many vampires drawn to the coast by the unexplained pull of the Nexus that space and blood is at a premium. Elder and Childer a like must scheme and scrape for their small patch of Domain. They are the things that go bump in the dark, the chill in the night, the shadow that crosses your path.Vampire Staff

Application Guidelines
The Vampire sphere follows the Mortal/Mortal+ Application Guidelines located here with the addition of following what the other 'super' spheres do, in that Blood Potency may not be higher than 4 after XP Spends, and the 4th dot must be bought with XP, not Merit dots from CG.
Vampire is a heavily Status based game. Status can not be bought with XP, only Merit Dots in CGen or by RP. You get a free dot of Clan, Covenant and City Status.
Tier Slots Available:
All tier positions require the designated tier to run 2 PrP/Events on a monthly basis. These events must be logged and posted to the wiki. Each event must include 2+ members of the sphere within the scene. Once the log is posted, please submit a +request to Vampstaff with the copy/pasted link so that XP may be awarded.
Requesting a Tier: Players may request one of the opening slots via +request. The Request should include a summary regarding the type of stories you plan to run as well as a general idea of available times the player is online. If approved, the players will have a 1 month test run in which they will be required to run 2 events/PrPs/scenes for the sphere without the XP incentive. If they do so successfully, they will receive the Tier bump and requisite XP. If at anytime the tiered player fails to complete the required scenes for the month, their tier status can be removed and they will need to rollback their PCs to repay the initial XP bump received. There is no Incentive XP allowed for Tiered PCs aside from the tier boost, aside from Morality drops, but XP may be awarded for the individual scenes run.
Tier Openings:
Tier 3: One Slot Available (experience in Vampire required)
Tier 2: 7-slots
Application Backgrounds
- Character backgrounds can be as short or long as players wish, but should at least consist of a few paragraphs. While no one expects a novel, players wishing to choose the bullet point/timeline format may do so as well. However the following questions must be covered at least somewhere amid whatever options you choose:
Questions:
1. How old are you? When were you born? Where were you born?
2. What was your childhood like? Who was your family? What kind of background do you come from?
3. What kind of person are you? What's your personality like? Strong/Weak character traits?
4. What was your first brush with the Supernatural like? How did it change you?
5. How did your embrace/ghouling come to pass? Who embraced/ghouled you? Why? How did you encounter your sire/regnant?
6. What is your relationship with your sire/regnant like? How did they treat you? Are they still alive? If dead, how did they die? Did they have any Covenant affiliations?
7. Vampires Only: Were you presented to kindred society? Was your embrace legal? Did others accept you? What's your relationship with other Covenants?
8. Vampires Only: Where is your Haven? How do you fortify it during the day? Do you have any Retainers/Staff/etc? What are they like?
9. What motivates you? What sort of goals do you have? Passions? Hatreds? Do you have any enemies? If so, who are they and why are they enemies?
10. Vampires Only: Have you ever been in torpor? When and where? What memories have you lost during that time? Upon awakening how have you adapted to the changes around you?
11. What brings you to Aleswich? What do you hope to accomplish when here?
